Teacher Development Forum and Survey Initiative
In 2024, the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area marks its 5th anniversary. As regional integration continues to deepen, it has opened up boundless opportunities for Hong Kong students in both further education and career development. Shin Tak Foundation sponsored and conducted the “Greater Bay Area Career and Life Planning Education Development Survey for Hong Kong Students” and the “Greater Bay Area Career and Life Planning Education Development Survey for Teachers.”
Objective
With support from the Education University of Hong Kong, the surveys aim to better understand how career planning education is developing in the Greater Bay Area and how it can help students contribute to national growth. To further support this goal, the Association also hosted a Teacher Professional Development Forum to strengthen educators’ knowledge and explore ways to guide youth in connecting with the country’s future.
Details
The survey found that nearly 90% of secondary students have visited the Greater Bay Area, but about 40% are still unfamiliar with its education opportunities. The results show both progress and challenges in promoting career planning related to the GBA, and suggest ways to improve. These insights can help schools and policymakers develop better strategies to support Hong Kong students in making the most of the GBA’s resources. The Shin Tak Foundation also proposed 18 specific recommendations for improvement.
